My friend Joe Green of Carmichael, CA began making homemade custom pens as a hobby. Many of his family and friends received these pens as gifts. The pens were made out of exotic woods he had been collecting over the years to use for something special. Before long people were asking how they could get one of his pens. Joe made a few to see if they would sell. He couldn’t make them fast enough to keep up with the demand. After much thought and consideration, Joe decided to start a business making and selling his one of a kind custom pens. He named the business ICA Pens (www.ICApens.com) after his three children, Isabelle, Caleb and Andrew. Joe told me when he or his wife needed all three children at once, they holler out, “ICA!” The kids know to come running.
You might be wondering why I am talking about homemade custom pens on my blog. I have been working on my September 10th, Be The Best You-You Can Be! event. One of these dolls in the picture below did not come with a nose. I sent Joe a picture and asked him if he could hook my girl up with a new nose. Joe didn’t hesitate and said, “I can try.” Not only did Joe try, he came through for my girl. He and the entire ICA team worked together to make sure the shape and coloring matched all the other noses.
Joe is a man who shows integrity in everything I have seen him do. When he tells me he will do something he does it. His words and his behaviors match. He is a kind, helpful, thoughtful and very positive man. He loves his wife and children very much. Joe works hard to make our community better. Having Joe in Carmichael, CA is truly an asset. That is why I am talking about homemade pens on my blog. I wish Joe much success with his new business.
BTW, I was lucky enough to win the pen on the far right at a fundraising raffle. Trust me you will want one of these pens!
See you in September!
