Old Fashioned Coffee Break Party

Old Fashioned Coffee Break Party.

Java with Julie

Are you lonely even though you’re busy all the time? Have your gadgets become your best friend? Is there too much white noise in your life?  Are you the person who is constantly busy, yet never has time to make new friends or nurture old relationships?  I was that person.  It took a while for me to understand being busy and having lots of friends was not the same as having good relationships.  In fact, most of the time the opposite was true.

We have trained ourselves to stay busy 24/7, and the more friends we have on social media the less lonely we will be.  Sometimes that’s true; for example, when I had knee surgery a few years ago, I was thankful for my gadgets. The nights were long and lonely, and I used the internet to keep connected to the outside world. Day or night, I could log on to see what was happening outside my room. My gadgets kept me busy, connected, and less lonely throughout my rehabilitation.

However, after rehabilitation, I craved human connections and genuine friendships. I looked at my list of friends and found people I genuinely wanted to know better.  That’s when Java with Julie coffee originated. I invite five friends to my kitchen table for a 30 minute, give or take, coffee break. We drink coffee, visit, and no phones are at the table.

The coffee breaks are such a hit I now I get text messages saying, “Hey, I need a Java with Julie fix.  When are you free?”

Coffee Break Party

This is something you can very easily do for yourself.  Set a date, pull down your old Mr. Coffee, bake some scones, and invite a few friends over  to the kitchen table for an old fashioned coffee break.
