Know Your Core Values

Core Values

Having core values, or a code of conduct, is important.  Core values give us a structure for living and making decisions.  I have a few core values I try to live by most of the time.  Notice I said “try” and “most of the time.”  I am not a perfect person.  I am always a work in progress, and I mess up, and that is part of being human.  We make mistakes.  When I know what my core values are for myself, it’s easier to identify what went wrong when I messed up.  If I don’t have a clue what my core values are, I am lost not knowing in which direction I need to go.

Julie’s Core Values

  • I am congruent. My words and my behaviors match.
  • I make decisions when my head, my heart, and my gut are aligned. In other words, my head, my heart, and my gut need to be giving me the same message.
  • I act like who I hang out with, so I hang out with who I want to act like.
  • I give more than I take.
  • I strive to have integrity.
  • I laugh at myself and my life.
  • I am kind to myself and try to be kind to others.

Let perfection go and keep progressing.
